The Band

BackGround Noise is a bluesy rock band of seasoned local musicians, with 3 members growing up playing in bands together.

 Marilyn Beebe - Lead Vocals

 David Shoup - Keyboards / Vocals

   Dave started his music career very early, playing keyboards for a series of local bands in the Los Angeles area as a teenager in the 70s, focusing on developing his chops on his Hammond organ and MiniMoog synthesizer.
   Over the next two decades, Dave balanced playing in bands, doing studio work and working a 'real job', including a stint in Portugal and Italy.  Upon his return to the US, he moved to the Bay Area and did a 8 year stint as a lead guitarist, leaving the keyboard duties to others for a while.  Upon moving to the Seattle area he answered an ad for a classic rock band looking for a keyboard player, beginning his decade long stint playing with Background Noise.

Gary Carlson - Bass Guitar  

   Gary began playing bass in 8th grade after originally taking guitar lessons since age 9. And that was only because his first band was made up of three guitar players. It was then he decided that bass was his new instrument. Gary played bass through high school in jazz band and continued to play rock with his first band "Sundance".  After high school Gary began dabbling in recording, and with his friend Greg, purchased an 8 track multitrack reel to reel tape deck and began recording original music for the next few years.
   He also played bass in a few other bands. In the 80's it was a band called "The Tactics" and later on in other local bands like "Joyride", "Bassackwards" and "Smokehouse". Gary continues to enjoy recording at home when the time allows. Check out some of his original music here.
